Welcome to Issue 15! A Double Take
The Buzz
11/01/02
Tynan’s Bridge House Bar in Kilkenny, featured in Issue 14, is one of Ireland’s most beautiful old pubs. Samme Ladckie certainly thinks so. After visiting it while on the Guinness Investors Course, he discussed the possibility of reproducing its famous horseshoe bar with Billy O’Sullivan of O’Sullivan Interiors Pub Design. Today, it is the most eye-catching feature of Ladckie Dublin Square Irish Pub in San Diego, USA, which also has a typical Dublin shop front. Made from solid oak, every detail of the replica has been painstakingly reproduced by the O’Sullivan team, down to the mouldings, panels, and hand carvings. The two pubs were officially twinned at a special ceremony on September 30th, attended by Samme and Billy, the Lord Mayor of Kilkenny and Alf France, GRIC, USA.
