Like Cognac, Armagnac comes
from the southwest of France. However, their centers
of production are 150 miles apart The countryside
of Cognac is gentle, that of Armagnac is hilly
and hot. Armagnac is single-distilled in its own
hybrid variety of still (to a lower alcohol content)
and therefore retains greater flavor which is rich
and pungent.
